The Asia Student Photonics Conference 2016
encompasses Talks by eminent speakers, Industrial interaction opportunities, First hand visit to state of the art research facilities, Networking with the experts in the photonics community, Workshops and competitions, Oral and Poster presentations.
ASPC also presents a wonderful opportunity to interact with leaders in the field from India and abroad and as many as around 300 participants. It aims to have students, researchers and also professionals involved in various domains of Photonics and related areas.
Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics, Manipal University
The Department for Atomic and Molecular Physics (DAMP), Manipal University
, located in the floor LG-1 of Academic Block 5 in MIT Campus, is a centre where advanced research and teaching converges.
The Department now has several full-fledged laboratories where basic and applied research in the area of laser spectroscopy and biophotonics gathers momentum and strength year after year. Researchers at the Department have been busy and successful since the day of its inception. Special emphasis is laid on the development of new and improved diagnostic techniques. All the research labs in the department sees the consequences of the light-matter interactions in various realms and regimes put to use in many fields, mainly the medical field thus playing a pivotal role in the Health Care Sector of the University and of the nation in general.
The active research collaboration that the Department has with the many research institutes across India and abroad makes it possible to ensure maximum support from the best names in the field of photonics. The science meetings (symposia/ workshops) and the collaborations that the department maintains with several premier research centres gives the students to interact with prominent figures of the field. Students make their time here most interesting by involving in several activities. Organising the different annual symposia and workshops always enhances their managerial and social skills.
The SPIE – Manipal University Student Chapter
functions in the Dept of Atomic and Molecular Physics with all the office bearers being the students of the department. It was initiated in 2013 and operates on an average strength of 30 members. Under the auspices of SPIE and the Research Forum, many outreach activities are conducted regularly targeting the B.Sc. students in and around Manipal. Students from neighboring colleges regularly visit the research labs of the department. In addition to this the Students Research Forum that functions in the department organizes and participates in activities like poster presentation and seminar series regularly. In short life at the Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics is a balanced blend of academics, research, social living and fun.
